DJ, record collector and all-round Scottish jazz fiend Rebecca Vasmant welcomed Iain and Owen from ‘SJ New Wave’ into her flat for an interview.
Rebecca has a career that has involved promoting her own parties in Glasgow for 10 years, touring the world for Ministry of Sound, and has now set up residencies in Glasgow’s Sub Club & The Blue Arrow Jazz bar. She has traveled the world extensively with her music taking her to France, Brazil, Estonia, Africa, Dubai and many more.
Through the interview you will hear Rebecca and I talk about her rise in the DJ scene, how she fought to make jazz lose its taboo label, the evolution of the Glasgow jazz scene, her mental summer playing festivals, including We out here and Worldwide set festivals under the helm of Giles Peterson, and finally she talks about the current generation of rising Scottish jazz stars.
