The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent: “A Unique Turn of Events”

Official Trailer for ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’

A movie no one knew they needed, where the National Treasure star thrives as he play the role of Nicolas Cage. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent hit theatres on the 22nd of April 2022, where both ‘Rage Cage’ fans and fairly confused cinema goers were united. Many viewers would be drawn in by what seems like a fairly random cast. However, all actors played their roles to perfection in a unique turn of events. Nicolas Cage has made a career out of working on small-scale productions that have allowed him to connect with his characters. Cage took on this project as a way to commemorate his career and his achievements. Working alongside, Director Tom Gormican and fellow cast member Pedro Pascal, Cage has managed to get in on the jokes fans link to him through this new self-aware action comedy.

The beginning of the film focuses on the lonely life Nicolas Cage leads, a once Hollywood star going through what seems to be a midlife crisis. Desperate for a role that will mean something to any audience, he throws himself at a producer in a miserable attempt to obtain the leading part. Soon after he meets with his agent, Richard Fink (Neil Patrick Harris), where he discusses the upcoming role that can change everything. When speaking to his agent his debt is brought up, an obvious reference to his real life, and he is told about a million dollar birthday party appearance. Cage is quick to look down on the deal, where he further expresses that he has yet to reach rock bottom.

After the talk with his agent, Cage heads over to a bar where he receives a call turning him down for a role he thought would get him back on his feet. Devastated by this news, he makes an appearance at his 16 year old daughter Addy’s (Lily Mo Sheen), birthday party, making a drunk scene leading to a distasteful conversation with his ex-wife about the reality of his life, Olivia Henson (Sharon Horgan). This leads cage to accept the birthday appearance deal, moving the film onto the main plot involving his obsessed fan Javi Gutierrez (Pedro Pascal).

Pedro Pascal managed to create a character that is loveable and in many ways pitted, a Spanish wine trader platonically in love with Nicolas Cage. When Cage arrives for Mr. Gutierrez’s birthday appearance, he gets kidnapped and is interrogated by the CIA agents (Ike Barinholtz & Tiffany Haddish), who have been keeping a close eye on him. Cage quickly teams up with the organisation and becomes a spy, but he must make a difficult decision after building a deep bond with the birthday boy. In parts the film is predictable, although many can argue that it is in the best way possible, each twist and turn will cause a burst of laughter that will echo from wall to wall in any cinema room. Forming an amazing atmosphere that everyone should experience, no other movie will make an audience want to come back more than this unique masterpiece.

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, go check out this amazing film which will make you chuckle and want more. Nicolas Cage starring as Nicolas Cage is just what the doctor ordered, it could even cause you to watch more of his work, which is definitely worth the time.
